The campaign so far: Keeping the peace.

So finnaly to recap on my "new" campaign. Keeping the peace is set on a continent where 2 major nations rules most of the land. In the middle of them is a Neutral area. Land what acts as a buffer between the two warring nations, In this neutral area is set this campaign in a City state situated i nthe centre of the two waring nations.

In the 1st session (the run through) in entered our 1st two adventurers out of the snow. Ewan Mccloud, a Aasimar Paladin with a mysterious past. Neko, A catfolk rogue looking for profit and adventure.
These two promptly began there adventure to rescue The cities rulers daughtwer and find out what had happened to the caravans on route to the city. They found out that marauding Orcs had kidnapped her and thus they went to her rescue. Upon arriving the two heroes fast talked there way in to find the leader of the Orcs, Mathew a half-orc had been using the girl and other enslaved women for his own needs. A fight broke out and our heroes barely made it out with there lives but none the less the day was saved. Other crazy misisons ensued with a spot of tomb raiding what saw the Paladin almost drowned to death and a airship crashland near the City. Also after capturing a Goblin they foiund out that the Goblins had a White Dragon at there disposal.

The next few sessions saw our heroes and a new arrival, a Orc Fighter a few months later dealing with the same situation in which Caravans from the North were not arriving in the city so our heroes go out to investigate only to find that the Goblins are now raiding caravans along with Orcs. Shocking. So the heroes after capturing another Goblin they who tells em the locatipon of the Goblin base they go do soem reconicense.

Unfortunatly they find more than they bargained for in the caves. Gnomes building a secret weapon, well trained Goblin forces, Also a new companion arrived in the The Dwarven Ranger Gangrim. Together the reconend the rest of the cave/lair to find at the end a meetign betwwen the Goblin leader and his allies. A human mercenary, a silver haired owman, Orc war chiefs, goblin chiefs, Gnome engineers. Oh and as I forgot to mention the Grand leader is a Goblin - half white dragon whos half brother a full blown white dragon accompanies him.

SO the party get the information on the current opperations and begin to shut them down 1st off freeing the Kobolds from the Goblins i nthe mountains. Secondly stopping the undead threat. acctualy the undead threat turned out to be nothing more than a trap set up by the MErcenary Captain to trap doo gooder adventurers. Now currently they are trying to negotiate with Orcs to have them join there side.

In the middle of al lthis Gangrim is currently trying to create his own orginsation to take down the thieves guild so that he can take over there territory. Neko a member of the thieves guild is stuck between loyalties to th thieves and the assasins.

But anyway the 1st half of the campaign is set to end when the army of Monstorus creatures decends upon the City.

Paladin came and aksed to be let in after reading this blog apparently he had al il chat with miss Y and has promissed to keep her on a leash shes on prohbation with the group ie if they dont enjoy her being on the table shes out so to speak.

I apparently have 2 other people who want to join. WHOOPEE!

never met them .... uh yay?

I really am nothing bad has happened yet. I am feeling splendid works ... ok. My Ik group will be meeting at my place this friday for once minus mr paladin im affraid to say. Kai is unfortunatly going to be late for the session possbily but we will see.
Ivw handed over my D&D 4th Ed Players handbooks to my cousin for the moment as I have no use for them as you will know if youve read my blog me and 4th dont mix. I feel however his friends who are of a much younger generation will enjoy the new system more. We shall see.

Anyway he loaned me i nreturn a few animes I hadnt watched yet one was a box set he wanted to sell he handt really liked it. My cousin can have his fiver I LOVE this show Otogi Zoshi is amazing you need to go watch it now!!!

But yeah thats what i been doing all week im happy.

There is not one thing im not happy about. Black cat bases where is MY PACKAGE!!!
Yeah I ordered some modren day street bases for my infinity minatures and a prirate for kylie for dnd which mua will be painting. Another minature for me to use as a practice mini but I ordered them Friday its now 1 am on Saturday stil no sign.
But hye thats not all that bad the bases only cost me 4 pound for a pack of 12 and the pirate was only £1.50 so a good deal in all.
I cant find my arcane machanik. Ever since I moved back from cambridge hes been mssing. This annoys me as his paint job was looking fantastic I had also made him a awesome base and now I may never see him again. Also cant find my Tau remora stealth drones I brought at Golden demon 08 jsut great.

But hye cant wait for Friday. The girlfriend wil larrvie we shall snuggle for a bit people will arrive and then we wil lgather roudn my table I shall pull out my pc and my dms matt and ... I need a DM outfit... I have a jedi robe ... that will do. We shall gather we shall introduce Maverick Gun MAge guy and we shall party litteraly. CCause I dont have to draw anymore flamign maps for glittercomm this week. WHOOP!!!

Yeah well be back to ranting next time folks also I suppose wel lget back to looking at the shinny retribution units.

Urrgh Why do people over react

You know I was having a really REALLY good day today. ALmost finished the paint job on my Sprigan and I finished a pretty damn good paint job on Father Dumas (well considering my standards it was an amazing job).

But none the less Mr X has had a few games with us now in the World of the Iron Kingdoms and miss Y has sat in on a session. Now I do have a thing about people sitting in on a gaming session. Im ok with there 1st time but after that they want to come back they gotta play. You see I learnt along time ago that Roleplaying games are a participation sport as it where. To watch a few people play them around a table is dull and you dont learn alot. However if you join in make a character etc you will find it more enjoyable and will have more fun. Even if your nervous or not to sure on what to do the folks at your table will help thee.

So yeah come to my table watch once but then you wanna come again you come to play.

Honestly I dont think I need to explain these reasonings to people but if they want me to sure why not but at the end of the day im the guy running the game. I am theo ne who invites you to play dont like it go play your MMO RPGs or whatver not my problem.

So I sent a messae to Mr X today sayign that this weeks session Players only. This evning Miss Y gave me a Earful saying that I was imature a coward etc. Now Instant Messages are hard to convey emotion over but from what I got the gist of she was demanding that I let her sit in on the session. Here is a reson why.

When Miss Y gets home she is on Skype where she will spend every evning on skype with Mr X cause Mr X is always in a game on his compy ok fine but here is the thing as far as I can gather he cant be spared from skype to come into our call to particiapte in the game, jsut for the night you know from 5/6pm to 11 pm. So yeah I get told that if she cant talk to him on skype Mr x going to play either.

Whelp you know what fine because I got a few thigns to say about that. As my previous rant (i love rant) talks about in the extra logn session that we had a break in she had been listening in she had asked question. Thats fine bad side she was commenting on thignsh appenign in the game and shes not playing. Woah time how can you comment onm whats happening if your not playing. Telling other players whatfore etc no should have booted you fro mthe convo right there but wasnt party leader of the convo so couldnt. Also herse a news flash I had a chat with my OTHER players you know the other 3 asked em about Miss Y they were kidna annoyed of her being there one not knowing her just wanted to stay ou of it. So yeah even without my rule on spectators why would i let you back in.

Ok so i didnt tel lher about the otherscause I did not want my players to get her fiery wrath. I protect my players like my pwn kin. also she was blowing the whole thing out of proportion. Yeah your not invited to siti n on the game so big whoop.

So yeah im been given the guilt trip by the way dosent washall the talk about me being immature and acting as if i was in a school ground by not inviting her. There was talk about me being stuborn and a douche. Stuborn yes Douche no not really. I think i fell asleep half way through the conversation.

And herse the one what got me rhild I got accused me of and I quote
"Why dont you be more considerate of couples in the game"

PAUSE!!!

Ok 1. She has not I repeat although being invited has NOT participated in the game yet specatting is not participating as i said this is not a spectator sport.
2. any one who read this blog can testify that I have a girlfriend who funnily enough I game with. My beloved Kylie has been doing pen and paper rpgs for about half a year now.

I persuaded her helped her create a character. I then brought her alogn to a D&D session at unui where she sat in on the game had fun and everyone was helpful enough to help her out including Sam the awesome Paladin man.

Yeah my girlfriend is a true hardcore gamer so dont tell me I should be more considerate of couples in the game last I checked I am.

So yeah Mr X then called me imature said he wouldnt be able to ppaly after that time. To be honest I like Mr X hes a good lad and a good friend. But im not going o try and stand between a couple and force him so hey he can do what he wants. But if hes goign to cut and ru nhalf way through the night hes not gonan bee i nthe group friday.

So yeah he did try to persuade me to use the chatlog in glitter comm to allow him to communicate with the party. How he wont be on skype to heart us and im not making anyone swtich over to another communicatio ntype half way through. Second with dice rolls that chat log wil lget full.
Third I am not always lookign at the screen ive got the Ik SRD up any extra stuf on my pc like notes im also lookign through the books for info I need. I cant keep lookign at the chat box half the time to see what people are saying thats what makes voice chat better.

Another reason I prefer voice chat easier to convey emotions and you know more instantanious than text (better to interupt the big bad guy as hes giving the 20 minute speech). So yeah im not budging on this.

So as the paladin departs into the mist on a good note a new characer emerges after him our clint eastwood esc gunmage yeah Welcome Sam. Next fun thing im gonan try adn dj and dm this will be insance but oddly fun :D

I hates ma job

SO I finneshed a manic day at work. It sucked balls royaly. As ive decided to leave uni and not do the 3rd year I have to look towards employmrnt. Honestly I cant see myself doing this job much longer. The hours are terrible. I never really get to see my friends and therse sometimes a rare chance I might get toi see Kylie and I have had to cut back the hours I put in to doing RPGS (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo)
So yeah I am not amused by that as you probaly can tell (Oh god why WHYYYY). Im thinking of just finding a nice job in a little shop bookstore 9-5 ,ost days heck dont mind working saturday as long as im working full time getting paid and not finnishing work at 2 in the morning.

SO yeah once I find a new job I could put working in a kitchen as a another job I never want to repeat.

We had our all day session of Iron Kingdoms Thursday. Well mostly all dya one or two hicups. People had a few thigns to do so we had a recesion inbetween. The Paladin was a pain. Complained about not getting a cut of the loot.

Ok break down herse how it goes. The loot they found was loot they found before they met the paladin. The paladin just appeared out of nowhere essentialy ans then after the fray told them dumas had sent him to find them and make sure they were safe.

So they got back to town sold there loot and the paladin got nout cause the party decided that because he wasnt there he didnt need to know bout it. THe player got annoyed and decided to be a pain for a while. Its the parties choice who gets loot not mine.

He got annoying later talkign about doing many unlawful things like breaking into alexias room etc. I got accussed of blocking the playersi n every time. Sorry but a execuntioners identity is always secret and Idoubt there would be a record of wh ohe was available to the public.
AQlso hey just because I told him that he couldnt break into Alexias room dosent stop the rest of the party.

I caved later and gave them some ideas on what they could do mainly cause they wanted to stake out the witches tomb aghai nwhen you get the idea you know with the emprty coffins and all that that place is pretty much done with.

SO you know I hinted to them that they should probaly follow alexia. So they did 2 avenues 1 group followed alexia (the arcane mexhanik) the other party would sneak into her room (the sorceror).

The paladin jsut went on beign annoying. The fighter wen out gun shopping and is now packing a military pistol and plenty of bullets (amazing what you can buy once yo uhave lots of gold).

So anyway they find out about the catacombs heado n down hav the chat with alexia find soem clues to what ashes doing and then there off. The paladin after a fruitless exploration of the tomb decided they should cut it short and then asked why i didnt pre build all my maps. Simple answer I prefer drawing them as we go along because that way you dont know what to expect round the corner. Also If I was DMing in person they wouldnt have a map id make them draw it. As they say Sapre the rod beat the child. In other words dont always bend to your players dont give the everything they need to make there adventure a walk i nthe park.

So then we took a break as apaprently everyone was bored. To be honest they were not.

I had a chat with the other players and yeah they just needed a hours breather and then we could begin ahgain. They were just annoyed with everything. Especialy the paladins girlfeidn who was sittign in skype listening and commenting on everything as if she was playing it annoyed everyone adn I couldnt boot her as it was the paladins conversation (new rule dm is skype conversation leader). So yeah after a tal kwith the paladin he appolagised promised he wouldnt mess around as much and we got in again. Now I let the girl firend back in under the guise of if she annyoed my players she would be politely asked to leave.

Now she jsut asked questions as we went on about how this works and such jsut gettign an idea of the game (She may one day join in). so thigs were going off without a hitch. Of then gametable started to fail on us. Gametable be the software we use. So we spent the rest of the night looking at new software to use im going with glittercomm I kinda fell in love with it. It does mean I need to pre build my maps as i havent got a map i can drqaw on anymore but it does come with a fog of war option so i can hide things where I want to.

Still not ammused dont think the paladin understands what kind of DM I am the add hoc kin. E.G I got an idea where im going with the story I just make alot of stuff up as I go along.

He also comaploined it wasnt very interactive and you know I didnt try and pull the players in?. Dont know what he meant by that afterall im runnign the witchfire trillgy a pre written campaign and I am addign a few extra thigns in as i go along like Kais sorcerors pursuer also known as the temple of Menoth. Yeah i sent a knight exemplar after them they just survived. I also hit them with a Gorax fun times.

also no one else is honestly findin it boring and are havign a blaast. Ehmust be him.
