Married life and Mutants and Masterminds GM kit

Hey folks we had a long hiatus between posts again but for good reason.

  1. Its the summer holidays and im burnt out from making pizzas
  2. Social commitments
  3. I GOT MARRIED
So yeah I got married over a month ago and it is going well. I and my glorious missus have not killed each other ... yet. Honeymoon was great the wedding i am told by many was the best wedding EVAR!!!

We had some drama but hey nothing new.

Right so lets get down to the gritty.

Mutants and Masterminds
Green Ronnin managed to walk away with 3 ENnies at Gen con two of them for Mutants and Masterminds. Both the Mutants and Masterminds Players handbook and the interior artwork for DC adventures both took silver awards. so well done to them.

So now lemme get down to what i wanted to review the Mutants and masterminds GM Kit.

The GM kit comes with two items the GM Screen and the random character generator. The Gm screen is made of the same material as a hard cover book making it very sturdy and the front cover artwork is nicely put together. On the inside the the screen has the information you need at your finger tips (damage charts, measurement tables, Size modifiers, action and manoeuvres  and basic conditions to name a few).
The random character Generator is probaly one of the coolest bits of kit I have ever grabbed as a GM. A super hero RPG is one of the few games where a random hero generator can work in my opinion. The book is 48 pages long and comes with a expanded
character sheet. The generator has 20 archetypes Each one of these archetypes has variable statistics so you wont get say two battle suit characters what are complete clones of each other.
By the time you are done generating this character you will have a 150 point PL10 character ready to go. The generator is great if your a player and you have a mental block on your new characters concepts. As each time ou roll for new advantages /abilities that random attribute is given a title such as: Overseer,Athletic, Innate power, Mutant/mutate. This can give you some ideas on your characters personality and concept.
The Random generator is also great for GMs who are 30 minutes from game time and need to pull a new plot villain of the week out of the hat.

Anyway folks thats my review so until next time keep fighting the good fight - Fen

The XV88 C Spec WIP

So when i  got home last night I decided to play with some spare 40k kits I had on me. So without further ado I give you my C Spec XV-88 Broadside Battlesuit.
The Using Crisis Missile pods I have been able to create the arm mountd missile pods. The rail guns are held on with a wing and a prayer. And the head is made using a multi tracker. I wanted to give the unit a more alien feel. The Multi tracker provided this, Had a slight problem fitting in the antenna array on to multi tracker as the missile pods took up a lot of room when mounted right on top of th shoulders. SO I leaned them back to allow the head some breathing room.. I intend to add some green stuff to bulk out the Broadsie make it look more imposing I also need to pinch another missile pod from somewhere.

Anyway my intention is for this fella to appear in a game of Deathwatch im intending to run. Anyway talk to you later folks.

"Look up in the Sky", Mutants and Masterminds: The revenge of Dr Reaper

Oh my goodness. Once again I return to blog. Lets see how long it takes me to blog again. So folks last time I was here i was talking about running my 3.5 campaign. Well that's kind of on hiatus now. Due to time constraints I had to say farewell to theose students up in Scotland and wished them well on there role playing endeavours. I leave them in the capable hands of Rob who seems to be on his way to beign one tough GM. Seriously the games of his I played in were quite intense to say the least, boy knows how to put the pressure on.

so with the keeping the peace campaign shelved I decided it was time to focus on a project. I am currently in the process of writting a scenario for Mutants and Masterminds currently named "The revenge of Dr Reaver". Tonight I finnaly have completed the 1st successful play test and hoo boy was it fun. of course in the process I have created a new gaming group with the sole intent of running Mutants and Masterminds.

down the list we have:

  • Chris Sell as Super soldier 01: A former villain turned hero. Looking for acceptance from heroes and citizens alike.
  • David buck as Psycholass: A billionaire Gender changing psychic.
  • Jennifer Stone as Lyna: The violent Martial Artist.
So far this team of misfits do not make up any sort of super team but they were drawn into a series of events. Needless to say so Far this scenario has proved interesting. With a few extra bits on the fly. the best extra was having one of the heroes captured and having a hard time escaping and being recaptured. One shocking bit was the big monster going out in one hit from a lucky crit (by chris) and a natural 1 on the resistance check by me.  One of the heroes (Lyna) has shown a tendency for agression and willingness to kill. How this will affect the team is anyone's guess. Super soldier who wads there when lyna tried to kill a super villain was opposed to Killing. Psycholass on the other hand is more likely to see this as ok being mostly in it for the thrills.
Never the less Lyna has now gained a new enemy in the way of a Villain known as Grim.

Any way folks i think that is all. I shall be doing a few more play tests before I write it all up and release it. I may record a session of the playtests so you can hear what I have planned.

and with that i go back to do the 1st revisions. See you soon folks - Fen

The campaign so far: Keeping the peace.

So finnaly to recap on my "new" campaign. Keeping the peace is set on a continent where 2 major nations rules most of the land. In the middle of them is a Neutral area. Land what acts as a buffer between the two warring nations, In this neutral area is set this campaign in a City state situated i nthe centre of the two waring nations.

In the 1st session (the run through) in entered our 1st two adventurers out of the snow. Ewan Mccloud, a Aasimar Paladin with a mysterious past. Neko, A catfolk rogue looking for profit and adventure.
These two promptly began there adventure to rescue The cities rulers daughtwer and find out what had happened to the caravans on route to the city. They found out that marauding Orcs had kidnapped her and thus they went to her rescue. Upon arriving the two heroes fast talked there way in to find the leader of the Orcs, Mathew a half-orc had been using the girl and other enslaved women for his own needs. A fight broke out and our heroes barely made it out with there lives but none the less the day was saved. Other crazy misisons ensued with a spot of tomb raiding what saw the Paladin almost drowned to death and a airship crashland near the City. Also after capturing a Goblin they foiund out that the Goblins had a White Dragon at there disposal.

The next few sessions saw our heroes and a new arrival, a Orc Fighter a few months later dealing with the same situation in which Caravans from the North were not arriving in the city so our heroes go out to investigate only to find that the Goblins are now raiding caravans along with Orcs. Shocking. So the heroes after capturing another Goblin they who tells em the locatipon of the Goblin base they go do soem reconicense.

Unfortunatly they find more than they bargained for in the caves. Gnomes building a secret weapon, well trained Goblin forces, Also a new companion arrived in the The Dwarven Ranger Gangrim. Together the reconend the rest of the cave/lair to find at the end a meetign betwwen the Goblin leader and his allies. A human mercenary, a silver haired owman, Orc war chiefs, goblin chiefs, Gnome engineers. Oh and as I forgot to mention the Grand leader is a Goblin - half white dragon whos half brother a full blown white dragon accompanies him.

SO the party get the information on the current opperations and begin to shut them down 1st off freeing the Kobolds from the Goblins i nthe mountains. Secondly stopping the undead threat. acctualy the undead threat turned out to be nothing more than a trap set up by the MErcenary Captain to trap doo gooder adventurers. Now currently they are trying to negotiate with Orcs to have them join there side.

In the middle of al lthis Gangrim is currently trying to create his own orginsation to take down the thieves guild so that he can take over there territory. Neko a member of the thieves guild is stuck between loyalties to th thieves and the assasins.

But anyway the 1st half of the campaign is set to end when the army of Monstorus creatures decends upon the City.

If you want to check out more please head on over to Obsidian Portal to check out my campaign which will give a more in depth view into my campaign also you can read Gangrims Journal in the players log session if you want a good laugh at what our crazy dwarf gets up to. Gangrim is played by my newest player and a 1st time table top RPGer. I can safetly say he is one of the most enthusiastic player I have had so far always comming to me with new crazy schemes.

Oh also just to shamesly plug cause well its my blog who the hell cares please also go check out my friends campaign over on obsidian Portal Caladon. compared to my crappy page his is 100% solid Platinum.
